Building and Rebuilding: Unique Blogs on Industrial and Manufacturing Pursuits

Hi. Thank you for reading my blog. I have always loved working with my hands, and my favourite book is "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". This book explains the importance of fixing things correctly, regardless of how long it takes. It talks about building and rebuilding, and it links the act of fixing a motorcycle to the art of living. I believe it's important to take that concept into every aspect of life including manufacturing. I have been around the manufacturing industry for years, and I've seen what works and what doesn't. In this blog, I hope to provide unique perspectives on industrial and manufacturing pursuits. I hope that my ideas lead you and your business to creating better products, seamless processes and happier, healthier employees. My name is John, and thank you for reading!

Are You Looking for a New Tow Truck Winch?

If you run a towing company, one of the most useful tools for your business is a truck winch. Tow truck winches are fundamental, they can pull vehicles out of mud or out of a hole into which they have careered. You can even use tow truck winches to pull a stranded vehicle off the beach before it gets swamped by the tide. Whatever your plans may be for the winch, you must ensure that you buy the most appropriate winch for your situation.

Winch capabilities vary a lot, and if you buy the wrong one, you could be stuck with an expensive winch that doesn't do what you need. Here are three things that you will want to look at before you make your decision.

1. Load capacity

How do you want to use the winch? Tow truck winches can offer different load capacities, and you don't want to choose a winch that isn't strong enough to pull a car out of a ditch. An average load capacity would be around 9500 lbs although if you look around, you will find

tow truck winches with load capacities of everything from 2000 lbs to 12000 lbs and even higher. Combined with load capacity, you will want to see the gear system with which the winch is provided. Taking load capacity and gearing together allows you to see how effective the winch will be in operation.

2. Winch construction

The power of the winch is important, but you must be confident that the winch will keep working without being easily damaged because of the rough working environment. Look for tow truck winches that have a rugged construction so that they can easily withstand the knocks and bangs they are likely to receive daily. If you are likely to be using the winch anywhere near water, it's a good idea to consider an amphibious motor that won't stop working when it comes into contact with water.

3. What's the warranty?

Tow truck winches are a considerable investment for most businesses, so you should expect some peace of mind rather than fearing that your winch will stop working and leave you out-of-pocket and unable to assist your customers. A good winch should be supplied with a warranty that covers both mechanical and electrical components. A full warranty means you can use the winch with confidence, no matter how tough the situation with which you have to deal.
